The bill (Reg. No. 10341) is aimed at elimination of inaccuracies in the Law "On Court Organization and the Status of Judges" regarding judges? remuneration, premiums and length of service.
Particularly, amendments should be made to the Law "On Court Organization and the Status of Judges" by extending the list of premiums included into judges? remuneration with a premium for scholarly and honorary degree.
People?s deputies support the opinion that proper financial and social provision of judges constitutes important guarantees of their independence. Nevertheless, they voiced a number of remarks to the bill.
Members of the Parliament stressed that the proposed version of part two of article 129 of the Law "On Court System and the Status of Judges" actually replicates the provisions of part seven of the same article.
As to the proposal concerning inclusion of all duration of work (service) of a judge into the length of service, which is determined by the law as one of guarantees of labor rights of people?s deputies of Ukraine, members of the Parliament noted that the guarantees of labor rights of people?s deputies of Ukraine in the discharge of their duties and after their termination are determined by the Law "On the Status of People?s Deputies."
They drew attention to the fact that the status of a people?s deputy differs substantially from the status of a judge, therefore, members of the Committee do not support such proposal.
